Report of the Kick off seminar “Break the Habit and get in on the Act!”

Bystrzyca Kłodzka/Długopole Dolne 19-25th November Poland
Europejskie Forum Młodzieży, a non-profit organization from Bystrzyca Kłodzka, from 19th to 25th of November 2012 organized a Kick off seminar for representatives of non-governmental organizations from four different continents: South America, Africa, Asia and Europe. The seminar was organized under Action 3.2 Youth in the World of Youth in Action Programme. Representatives of partner organizations from Nepal, Indonesia, Colombia, Mexico, Nigeria, India, Turkey, Latvia, Romania, Greece, Italy, Hungary, Bulgaria and Poland met in Kłodzko Valley to come together and discuss the objectives of the project “Break the Habit and get in on the Act!”.

Project “Break the Habit and get in on the Act!” is dedicated to young people from disadvantaged backgrounds and youth workers who are working with youngsters with a fewer opportunity. The project is co-financed by the European Commission.

The main objects of the project “Break the Habit and get in on the Act!”:

  • To reflect about youth unemployment and to find new and innovative approaches to this problem;

  • To improve capacity-building for youth organisations in order to contribute to civil society development of local communities and to contribute to the development of youth policies;

  • To create a network of organisations with common aims and a sustainable partnership leading to future follow-ups.

We spent seven intense days, during which representatives of partner organizations acknowledged the project “Break the Habit and get in on the Act!”, the Youth in Action Programme, local and regional policies to prevent young people from unemployment, activities of Europejskie Forum Młodzieży, visiting the places where the volunteers are hosted from all over the world and organizing international projects. We visited the schools in Kłodzko: School No. 1 in. Adam Mickiewicz, Integration School and the Museum of Kłodzko also Kłodzko County Prefect, the Mayor of Międzylesie and Mayor of Bystrzyca Kłodzka. During the visits and meetings overseas partners learned how the municipalities and county cooperate with NGOs in Kłodzka Valley and we discussed about the police of preventing youth unemployment that the state lead. We used many different methods for learning and exchanging our experience e.g. visual, discussion, presentation, brain storm, games, open space debates, interactive groups, audiovisual presentations, studied visits and exchanged good practices.

In addition, partner organizations presented their achievements and goals of the organization. Together we discussed the projects and plans for the coming years as part of the "Youth in Action" Programme co-funded by the Executive Agency for Education, Audiovisual and Culture Executive Agency (EACEA) of the European Commission. One of the objectives of the seminar was to share experiences in obtaining direct beneficiaries - young people who are particularly in need of support and motivation for personal and professional development. Moreover, we passed to each other the knowledge of raising funds for methods for the realization of voluntary activities in Europe, seeking sponsors and dissemination of the results and the results of completed projects, and most of all, planned future cooperation in the coming years.

However, it is not the end of the cooperation with Europejskie Forum Młodzieży and the partner organizations in Nepal, Indonesia, Colombia, Mexico, Nigeria, India, Turkey, Latvia, Romania, Greece, Italy, Hungary and Bulgaria. The "Break the Habit and Get in on the Act!" co-financed by the European Commission in the framework of Action 3.2 "Youth in the World" Programme "Youth in Action" project runs from 01/11/2012 to 10/31/2013.
